Prof. George Birkmayer – Biochemist, Physician, and NADH Researcher
University Professor George Birkmayer, M.D., Ph.D. (1941–2022), was a biochemist and physician who worked in medical and biochemical research for decades.
After completing his scientific training and conducting research internationally, he devoted a significant portion of his life to studying NADH (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydride), also known as coenzyme 1, and its role in human energy metabolism.
A particular focus of his work was on the practical applicability of the sensitive coenzyme NADH. In the early 1990s, Birkmayer developed a stabilized form of NADH, thereby laying an essential foundation for its use in oral products.
His research, publications, and decades of development work continue to form the scientific foundation of the work carried out by Prof. George Birkmayer NADH GmbH.
